Through Magellan Circle, Circle Group supports the Northern Adriatic Sea Port Authority (Ports of Venice and Chioggia) in promoting and disseminating “Channeling the Green Deal for Venice“.
Financed under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) program, the project “Channeling the Green Deal for Venice” holistically addresses the issue of limited nautical accessibility to the ports of Venice and Chioggia, seeking innovative solutions for sustainable navigation while respecting the physical constraints and hydrodynamic balance of the Venetian lagoon. The project also aims to decarbonize transportation.
Within the broader framework of promoting and disseminating the project’s results, Magellan Circle will assist the Northern Adriatic Sea Port Authority in organizing three seminars. The first seminar, titled “Development of the Port and Inland Waterway System of Padano-Veneto: Sustainable Balance is Already Possible” took place on June 28, 2023, in Brussels.
“Channeling” has been awarded by the European Commission for its highly innovative approach to the proposed study. It enables an increase in the capacity of the Malamocco-Marghera canal and consequently improves the competitiveness of the port while ensuring the sustainability of navigation in the main channel and surrounding areas.
