Enhance the efficiency and competitiveness of a logistic node through the use of telematic systems for the data exchange is the aim of Logistics DataSpace, the research project financed by Regione Liguria. Logistics DataSpace concerns the design and development of telematic systems for logistics communities for the creation of a digital platform for the data exchange and the use of innovative services as the identification of the players involved in the transport procedures and the automated control of the gates to the logistics areas.
Among the technological features of the project, a special focus is for the Blockchain technology and its application to the logistic industry and goods’ tracking functions. In order to create a data chain, Logistics DataSpace plans the creation and integration of different subsystems, to be used inside the logistics nodes as automated access gates with HW and SW technologies for the tracking of vehicles; a system of data and services interchange based on Blockchain; an identification system for persons; a terminal automation system based on IoT and including technologies like RFID, Bluetooth, NFC, OCR and laser.
Considering the intermodal vocation, Port of Genoa was selected as applicative environment for the project.
The project started in August 2018 and Circle Group is part of the team made by genoese companies specialized in ports and logistics industries. In the next months the project will enter in the validation and application phase: the prototype will be tested by the main logistic players to verify the effectiveness.
